Footpads - First set

Last year Lead Adventure Miniatures released their 7th wave for Bruegelburg, which mainly consisted in Schweinstein's revolting peasants and other militia men.
I got extremely excited with this release as most of those models would allow me to create a small faction of footpads to menace my town and its inhabitants.

So, I got most of the miniatures and then months later started painting them. A couple of them got done last weekend, bases included: two thugs.

I wanted to give them a simple but effective colour scheme, especially on their clothes. I also added some dried leaves to the bases to give more character to the models. A few highlights later, the job was done!

Definitely not the friendliest folk you will meet in a dark alley, but certainly the start of an interesting warband to give some excitement to a very dodgy town.

  1. Thanks a lot Simon! Not too happy with their eyes, so I might revisit them at some stage.

I have four more to paint. Once they're done, I can post a more lengthy article on these guys.

  2. Look at the jowls on medallion man! Is the other bandit doubling as Old St Nick?

  3. Hey man, probably! :)
As long as they qualify for footpads, all good!

  4. They look good. It's such a chore scouring the internet for civilians and townsfolk. My holy grail is goblin townsfolk and people who are sitting down.

  5. Hi Jeff. I hear what you're saying about people sitting down - really hard to find. I only have two of them and they're OOP... I'll give you a nudge when I find some.

As for civilians in general, fortunatelly there is a bunch of companies out there that make quality medieval/fantasy townsfolk. Maybe one of my next posts should list some of these companies to help you and others to find them more easily.

As for goblin townsfolk, Foundry had a few of them - and orcs too. I think they're planning to make them available again at some stage. In the meantime, have you seen Midlam Miniatures? They have a (small) range of goblin civilians: http://www.midlamminiatures.co.uk/lostgoblins.html
I'm thinking of getting some myself!
